Hope Gangloff is an American contemporary painter known for her vibrant portraits, detailed linework, and use of color. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn. Gangloff studied at The Cooper Union, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Her paintings often feature her friends, musicians, and scenes from everyday life, combining realism with stylized patterns and bold colors. Gangloff’s work is inspired by photography, city environments, and human interaction. Her portraits capture personality and emotion while also emphasizing shape, texture, and composition.

Through her artwork, Gangloff explores modern culture, identity, and connection. Her distinctive use of expressive lines and layered colors creates energetic paintings that feel both personal and lively.

I love Gangloff's style. The way she uses colors to bring such expressions to her artwork is inspiring. I love the way she incorporates flat colors in some places, but provides depth in others. It really brings your attention to certain places in her work. It's so simple yet so affective! I also love her pattern usage, and again, I LOVE HER USE OF COLOR. Her linework is detailed and confident, and brings lots of movement to even the simplest of portraits. Her work reminds me of Egon Schiele's works, another artist I admire. Some of her pattern usage also is reminiscent of Gustav Klimt, or the art nouveau movement in general.
